Little Dinos began with a simple idea: kids deserve disability representation that celebrates who they are. In 2022, our son Lucas was born. As new parents navigating disability for the first time, we had many questions about how to raise a child with pride in their identity. We wanted Lucas to grow up surrounded by community, confidence, and love, not pity, limits, or outdated assumptions.
We were fortunate that his Aunt Oaklee is a disabled adult who shares similar neurological conditions with Lucas. Having open, honest conversations with her helped us understand the importance of disability pride and intergenerational connection within the disability community. It wasn't about finding “answers,” but about shifting our mindset: from fear and uncertainty to celebration and solidarity.
We realized what we wanted for Lucas: a childhood full of joy, advocacy, community, and representation. And we knew other families needed that too.
At the end of 2024, we launched Little Dinos for Lucas as a small t-shirt fundraiser featuring dinosaurs with mobility aids, Lucas’s favorite creatures, just like the ones on his AFOs. The idea quickly grew.
By July 2025, Little Dinos officially became a family-run business. Today, we create t-shirts, murals, and paintings that uplift disabled kids and their families. Whether we’re designing a new shirt, brightening a hospital hallway, or celebrating a disabled role model, our focus remains the same: real and empowering disability representation for kids.
Little Dinos is for Lucas and also for every disabled kid who deserves to be seen, heard, and celebrated.
